Get to know your photographer...

I thought I'd make a post so you can all get to know me a little better!

About me :

My name is Ashleigh, I'm 26 years young and happily married to a wonderful man. We have been together for almost 10 years, and married for 5 years this July.  We were blessed this past November with a beautiful son, named Shane. He's our whole world!

About my style:

I like to say I'm not your ordinary photographer. Sure, I can dress up a baby and create a shot but I love to capture more than just that. I like to capture stories and memories, get those little details that you'll be able to cherish and remember forever.  

I'm a self-taught photographer.

I'm still learning as a photographer, I think I'll never be done learning. There's always something new to learn and I like to push myself in that aspect. I look at pictures I took back a few years, and think to myself, "What was I thinking?!". But at the same time, I smile at how far I've come. I'm happy I took a leap into photography- I use to be really shy, but it has opened me up, has given me confidence and I've come out of my shell as a person. Photography has always been a passion and dream of mine. If you want something badly enough, go for it!

When I'm not behind the camera-

When I'm not behind the camera, or editing away on the computer, I enjoy spending time with my family. Nothing makes me happier than my boys!

I'm a yoga enthusiast! I try to practice it as much as I can!

Full-time I'm a nanny, I love taking care and teaching young children.

I hope to one day, make this my full time job!!

New Prop!

I got a vintage type suitcase last summer at a yard sale, and I've been dying to use it in pictures. Now that I have a cute little assistant, I was able to get some great shots with it!!

Valentine's Day Backdrop & Previews!

So, I wanted a new backdrop- I was tired of using my fabrics, and I wanted to use something vintage for my upcoming Valentine's Day Mini Sessions at the end of this month, so I started brainstorming!

I thought a great wooden piece would look great! So with the help of my husband, he put together 10 tongue and groove slats, to make a 4ft by 4ft backdrop. Pictured below is one half...

We let it dry overnight, it took some time for the glue to dry. Next, I added a light mist of white spray paint, and distress some areas of the wood. Again, I was going for a vintage feel. After it was dry, I sanded some areas.

I also made a cute banner to add to the backdrop- I like that I can add things to it, so I can use it for many sessions to come. Now it's time for some practice shots!
